Laurence Lai PhD Candidate Laurence Lai PhD Candidate Laurence Lai is a doctoral candidate in clinical psychology at Concordia University. His research focus is on the effect of aging on the relationship between executive functions and balancing behaviours. He fulfilled his clinical training requirement in the summer of 2022, completing his full pre-doctoral internship at the neuropsychology unit at the Allan Memorial Institute and the memory clinic at the Jewish General Hospital. He has extensive experience in the neuropsychological assessment and diagnosis of various neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g. attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, etc.), as well as other acquired conditions (e.g. traumatic brain injury, psychosis disorder, neurodegenerative disorder). He is a student member of the Order of Psychologists of Quebec. Rachel Downey Clinical Neuropsychologist Rachel Downey Clinical Neuropsychologist Neuropsychological assessments at the clinic are conducted by Dr. Rachel Downey, an independent clinical neuropsychologist. Dr. Downey holds a PhD in Clinical Neuropsychology from Concordia University and has specialized training in the assessment of ADHD, learning disabilities, and neurological conditions, including traumatic brain injury, stroke, and epilepsy. She completed her clinical training across several hospitals in Montreal, Ontario, and Winnipeg, including the Montreal General Hospital, Allan Memorial Institute, Baycrest, Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health, Health Sciences Centre, and the Pan Am Concussion Clinic. Her clinical work is informed by a strong research background, with a particular interest in dementia and cognitive aging. Her doctoral research examined how cognitive, sensory, and motor changes interact in aging, and how these processes can be improved through targeted interventions. She also holds a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Science from the University of Toronto, where she conducted concussion research with varsity athletes. Dr. Downey is committed to providing thoughtful, evidence-based assessments tailored to each individual’s needs. She works collaboratively with clients to identify factors contributing to cognitive difficulties and to develop strategies to support everyday functioning. Thus far, Sana has received training in neuropsychological assessments in a variety of location in Montreal, including the Jewish General Hospital and the Allan Memorial Institute. She has also received training in therapy and clinical intervention at in-house university clinics and community centres.
